Our People

I felt cared for right from the moment I contacted Reach right through until I finished my counselling

Our People

Reach is a team of people who are eager to help those in need find a better life through Christian counselling. Whether employed, volunteer or supporter, our people use their skills, availability, resources and faith to care for others.

The day to day team is overseen by Andy Bond (our Co-ordinator and a qualified Supervisor) and Mal Tyndall (our Appointments Manager and an ex Social Worker).

Counselling Team

We are fortunate to have a counselling team that typically consists of around 15 trained and qualified counsellors some of whom have over 30 years of experience and have counselled hundreds of clients. The team is a mix of paid and volunteer counsellors all of whom commit to work to professional standards within an evaluated service. Reach counsellors are recruited following a successful interview process in which we consider their skills, training, character and their call to this type of work. All of our counsellors are Christians and are committed to respecting clients of all faiths or of no faith, however they are especially suited to working with Christian clients.

All of our qualified counsellors are now on the accredited register of counsellors overseen by the Professional Standards Authority. Some will travel significant distances to appointments such is their commitment towards their work and clients.

AndyAndy Bond is Reach’s employed Co-ordinator. Andy has been with Reach since the very early days and is a highly experienced counsellor and supervisor. He has day to day management responsibilities and reports to the Council of Management.

MalMal Tyndall has now been a part of Reach since 2000 and she qualified as a counsellor in 2001. Previously she spent many years helping others as a Social Worker. In her role as Appointments Manager she provides the best possible start for new clients by matching them to the most suitable counsellor.

Administration and Reception Team

We also have an administration and reception team of four people including Andy and Mal. The longest serving of our volunteers in administration is Alan who has worked as our volunteer financial administrator for over 10 years.

To help with marketing and fundraising we employ Jeff Robinson for one day a week. Jeff knows Reach very well as he has been, and still is, a counsellor with us since 2009. He has previously worked for The Prince’s Trust and works part-time for the NHS.

Supporters and Trustees

The charity is significantly resourced through our supporters. These are individuals, couples and churches who either give on a regular basis (Partners) or those who choose to give occasionally (Friends). The charity is overseen by a Council of Management. I really enjoy the varied work that I do at Reach with no two days being the same. I have some great relationships with our staff and volunteers who are all very supportive and who are able to enjoy some light hearted moments when needed.
